Baby Boom

I'm in the middle of one. It seems that my friends are all working on the second child. This means lots of adorable baby knitting like this:

I love this yarn. It is Beemer Knits Buttercup organic merino in the Rowan colorway. Soft and squishy. I love the variety of colors in this. This is going to be a Mossy Jacket. I love that pattern. It's a simple cardigan but the asymmetry makes it kind of special. I bought trim yarn with the Rowan but I'm not sure how I feel about it.

What do you think? On one hand, I like the neutral. The yarn is wild enough and having something simple going all the way around the neck, wrists, waist and button band might be nice. On the other hand, I wonder if the brown...matches at all. I mean, I know there is brown in the yarn but...I don't know. Thoughts?

In other news, I got another fiber club installment from Dashing Dachs. I LOVE me some Dashing Dachs but have not really been feeling the colorways from this club. I'm wondering if I should put a couple of them up for trade in case someone will enjoy them more than I do. This is a variation of her Baobab colorway:

A great week for fluffy mail!

Oh my goodness. I can't believe my good luck this week. First of all, I have been searching and stalking like a crazy woman for some Wollmeise sock yarn. It has been near impossible to get for some time now and after not trying for awhile I thought maybe the craziness had died down. I was wrong. People in the US were setting alarms at 3am to wait in the off chance it was stocked.

Finally I sent out a plea on Ravelry and wouldn't you know that people who did not want to trade/sell their Wollmeise PMed me saying that they would for me since I'd never tried any! So nice. Two skeins arrived this week (from two different Ravelers).

The first is Indisch Rot on the 100% wool base. Beautiful shades of red and orangey red:

The next is Thriller on 80/20 Wild Thing:

Even Mr. Starfish who is unimpressed by most yarn and thinks "stalking" websites for yarn is crazy, has commented twice on the colors in this one!

Then (as if this wasn't enough) my last installment of the Dashing Dachs fiber club came today and what a way to end. One of my favorite DD colorways -Goldfish on merino:

Obsessed?

Have I gone too far with the "I want to try Wollmeise" thing?

This is Lavendel. The colors are just beautiful.

I should have the Mossy Jacket to show as an FO in the next day or so!

Mossy Jacket

See? I do knit!

mossy%20jacket.jpg

I love this little jacket and hope the mom-to-be does as well! I worried about the gender neutrality/boy appropriateness of this so I added some Scottie dog buttons and voila! It's done! This pattern was so well written and easy - I would love to knit it again!

*Reminder* Mossy Jacket can be found here and on Ravelry.

When was the National Championship game?

Oh, right. Early April. That's when I cast on for the "National Championship socks". I finished them last night.

duckies%20done.jpg

I really like them. The pattern is Duckies and the yarn is Three Irish Girls in the Cormac colorway. They are comfy and I followed the pattern exactly as written. The yarn is a light sport weight and I think my next socks for me will be a true fingerweight. These are a tad thick.

Mr. Starfish calls them the Irish Spring socks. The color kind of looks like the soap, doesn't it?
