Fresh Sewing Day

I link up to Fresh Sewing Day sometimes and usually have one or two finishes for the month but this time I have four!

I branched out this month and tried a toy and some lounge pants. Go me! I must be a teacher on summer vacation! ;)

Lily's Quilts

I like linking up to these kinds of things and checking out a new new blogs. I always find someone new to follow that way!

Happy Snappy Monday

AStashAddict on Ravelry posted about Snappy Happy Monday. Every Monday she posts her Instagram photos from the week before. I. love. Instagram. I'm paperstarfish if anyone reading me wants to look me up! I love seeing people's "normal" pictures instead of only the pretty, blog-worthy ones.

Do you have an iphone or Droid? Are you on Instagram?

My Take on Converging Corners

I have loved the look of the Converging Corners quilt over at Film in the Fridge since I first saw it so I decided to try it out with Flea Market Fancy on Kona Ash.

I've struggled with this one since I started it but I persevered!

I did the longarm quilting myself and am pretty pleased with it. It gave me lots of good crinkle and texture.

The backing is the green seeds print from Flea Market Fancy which I love! This quilt measures 34"x47" and is a great size for a baby-into-little-kid quilt. It could also be a great wall hanging if you're into that sort of thing. I am putting it up for sale since I'm starting to amass many quilts here at the house and this one wasn't made for anyone in particular.

What do you think?

I'm linking up to the Friday Fun Party!

Happy Snappy Not Monday

Oops. I forgot:

Some fabric purchases, some family fun, some food. Pretty much sums up my summertime activities! That Greek yogurt peanut butter pie was from Pinterest and sooo yummy!

I've gone back to an old favorite block of mine: wonky stars. This is all stash leftovers and I'm going for really bright saturated colors:

These are going to be a pillow. Still working on the details....

That Old Redecorating Trick....

We have some changes coming about at Chez Starfish. I finally gave in to a tv in the main living room space of our house and it seems like by doing that, it started a cascade of redecorating interventions. Over the next few weeks we will be moving a desk and large chair/ottoman out, bringing in a new piece of furniture and large tv in, and having custom built in bookshelves built around the fireplace and mantel. So, where am I going with this? I thought I'd play around with that old redecorating tip of changing out throw pillows.

What do you think? I love the text print sashing with the bright colors and I always love wonky stars.

The cover fits right over a 16"x16" pillow form. I'm going to play around with some other color combos and sizes. I've actually listed this pillow cover for sale in my little Etsy shop here: Paper Starfish on Etsy. Feel free to look and then share the link! ;)

I've been working on some needlepoint lately and have a question before I can finish the piece. Kid Starfish and I drove over to my local shop but it is closed on Mondays! Why can I never remember that? It will have to wait until tomorrow, I guess!
