Picnic and Fairgrounds Whirligigs

I knew these fabrics wouldn't sit long. I love them too much. After much agonizing over what to do (I contemplated Small Plates, modern crosses and lots of others), I decided to try whirligigs!

They're fun so far and I love how they look all jumbled together. I have 12 blocks so far and need lots more! Here is a picture of some laid out when I had 10 finished:

Now the questions are:

1) Should they be all up against each other like this or should I add plain white squares in between each one?
2) Should they be straight across like this or set on point?

Decisions, decisions.

Oh and look:

My birthday was last month and I got a big girl sewing machine! Will I ever use half of those stitches? No. Do I love this machine and does it make me happy? Yes.

Picnic and Fairground Camera Strap

It's my first day of summer break. Two months off of work is not bad and to celebrate I gussied up my camera with some Denyse Schmidt fabric.

The quality of the picture isn't great because my good camera is in the picture. ;) Here's a picture of just the strap which shows everything clearer:

I used a tutorial from Ginabean Handmade but made my front piece patchwork instead of one fabric. My strap was also much thinner than most other tutorial measurements I've seen so I adjusted there too. My camera is ready for summer!

Prince Charming

Look at these frogs. So cute. Can you see them on the left?

I will be cutting into this tomorrow. Can't wait.

I'm going to start a sweater for one of the wee starfish this weekend. I really want to do something for my older prince but I'm kind of concerned he won't wear it. He is 6 now, you know. It might be safer to do something for the little turkey who has no say in what he wears!
