Frenetic Project Starting

So, here is the thing... I have a lot going on in my life right now. New job, last semester of my post-Master's certificate, submission to the state for licensure, some catch up on Drunkard's Medallion-along, etc. When I have a lot of things going on that I "have to" do, I have this bad habit of starting a million little things that are unrelated to the necessary tasks. Anyone else?

I bought this:

I know exactly what I'm going to do with it and I'm very excited. It's Nordika by Jeni Baker and I love it.

I love the aqua and pink and I LOVE it when a line includes black. It doesn't happen very often.

I also started pulling fabrics to make some sweet little Christmas trees:

This is going to be a table topper or wall hanging for Kid Starfish's teacher. More on that later.

It's October. It's still hot. I'm waiting for it to feel like fall!

Rib-A-Roni Hat

I love fall weather. This is not fall weather. I knit a hat for Kid Starfsh and made him model it in very warm temperatures:

This was an easy and well-written pattern called Rib-A-Roni. The red is Malabrigo in Ravelry Red and the blue is Dream in Color Classy. I used leftovers from my stash and barely had enough red to finish!

The color is off in this next and last photo but look at my sweet guy. He is getting so old!

Just Keep Swimming!

We've been watching a lot of Finding Nemo at Casa Starfish lately. I think it helped inspire this baby quilt for a sweet little guy born one month ago.

I cut into my Heather Ross for this quilt that measures about 39" square.

There is a lot of great texture in this one and the back is a simple navy chevron.

The baby (Grayson) is the first baby for Kid Starfish's 1st grade teacher. We went over to see him yesterday and delivered the quilt then. What is it about holding those brand new babies? So sweet.

Penny Sampler

I really enjoy Rachel's work over at Stitched in Color. The Color Wheel quilt that I made was from one of Rachel's pattern. Oh boy. I fell in love with her Penny Sampler and had to dive in! It is so different from my usual style but I am really smitten with it. I joined the party late so I'm in catch-up mode but I've already gotten several blocks finished:

I'm using the Nordika stack that I showed a few posts ago. Stay tuned!
