Paper Starfish

I've knit Monkeys before but they were for someone else. I really like the pattern but am trying the No Purl Monkeys this time around. I'm using Dream In Color Starry yarn:

The colorway is Happy Forest and I really love the subtle changes in green with the flecks of silver.

I'm about halfway through with the gusset on the first sock:

I love this color so much that I'm thinking about using it to make a Pembroke vest out of it for the wee one on the way. I love how that center cable splits for the V up the neck.

In non-knitting news, I found a great Snickerdoodle recipe by Martha Stewart. Snickerdoodles aren't my favorite cookie but I had all of the ingredients on hand for these so I thought I'd try them out. Yum! Half of the batch will go over to my friend Ellen, who celebrates a birthday today.

I finally succumbed to the pull of the sock club. I've been looking into them for a while and decided on the GothSock Club by Rainy Days and Wooly Dogs. Stephanie's yarns are so beautiful and I'm a sucker for self-striping! The first shipment arrived today and I'm in love.

It's self-striping in pinks and blueish lavender. The base is superwash merino, nylon and cashmere. Yum!

On another note, is anyone planning a project for the Ravelympics? I'm thinking I'm going to enter the WIP category and FINALLY push through the end of my Lizard Ridge Afghan. I started it in March of 2008. *embarassed*

I hadn't tried any Dream in Color yarn before and now that I have, I'm in love! First up are my No-Purl Monkeys in Starry. The colorway is Happy Forest:

Then I bought some Classy in the Deep Seaflower colorway:

This skein will become a Pembroke Vest (mentioned in the last post) for Baby Starfish due in March!
