Still Alive!

Were you wondering? I won't bore anyone with details of my absence. There really isn't any great reason. I did finish the Dipped Infinity Scarf though!

This is a fantastic pattern. Easy to memorize and customize with any colors. I did cut one color out because it was plenty wide as it was. It was also my first experience with KnitPicks (Palette). It won't become my favorite yarn but it comes in tons of color and the price is definitely right! The many comments about this pattern curling are pretty much true. I steam blocked it with a good amount of success but it does want to curl if given the opportunity. What do you think?

Dino Dan

Starfish Boy loves this new show on Nick Jr. Dino Dan is a boy who sees dinosaurs all over in his everyday life. It's pretty cute and has brought on a serious love of dinosaurs!

As a result I whipped up Roar, A Dinosaur Hat:

He loves it! He went with me to the LYS and picked out the yarn himself!

I love all of the boyish and gender-neutral patterns we're seeing lately! I can imagine this hat in so many color combos including a hot pink version!

Paper!

Some of my readers may know that I love all things paper (hence part of my blog and online name). It occurred to me though, that I never post my paper projects (stamping, scrapbooking, etc). I think of this as a mostly knitting blog. I even post some of my sewing/quilting projects. Why no paper? I don't know.

I'm working on a mini album of summer pictures so that I can put that away and get to December Daily with Ali Edwards. I bought the base pieces for this album from Monika Wright at her Etsy shop.

This album isn't quite finished yet. It needs some more journaling and accessorizing. There was some fun stuff going on this summer - lots of firsts with Baby Starfish, Kid Starfish turning five, trips to the beach house, etc. I'm glad I have them captured in a central place. Isn't that picture of Kid Starfish (center) with two friends funny? They look like a tough kiddie gang!

Speaking of Monika's shop... I'm crushing on this right now:

For those who come strictly for knitting content, I have cast on for Ishbel. More on that in another post.

Late to the Party

And by that I mean the Ishbel bandwagon that everyone jumped on many months ago. I've had the pattern sitting and never got around to making one. A few weeks ago a close acquaintance (is there such a thing?) was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She has two little girls and is only a couple of years older than I am and it hit home. She has spent a couple of weeks in the hospital and has to go back for several rounds of chemo (at least) for a week at a time. She loves fall colors and I thought this yarn would be perfect.

I think it will be lovely and hope it makes her happy even for a minute.
