So this was supposed to be a scrappy binding:
Doesn't look so scrappy, huh? I'll post more pics post-washing but thought I'd get this up now so my finished quilt post isn't marred by my complaining about the lack of scrappiness! I made a scrappy binding but made way more than I needed so I cut it down and it turns out now most of it is this polka dot print. I love me some polka dots but now the binding looks like mostly polka dots with a few random bit thrown in. Oh well. I've learned now to actually measure binding and not just make way more than needed!
They've been on the needles for 533 days and now they're finished!
I love them. I love the pattern and I love the yarn. It's Dream in Color Starry in Happy Forest. I'll be excited to wear them this fall!
I've cast on for a strange project. Stay tuned for a little teaser and a contest with a prize if you can guess what it is!
I finished "Deep Sea Dance" for baby John. My roommate from Colgate had her third baby recently and I had to make a quilt for him!
I love how it came out!
I also got some new tags with my starfish logo on them. I'm strangely excited about this!
As for my new knit... it's kind of an odd thing. It was a special request and I thought it would be fun to have a little giveaway. I'll post a picture of the start of it and if anyone knows what it is, take a guess and I'll send a little knitting-related present to the first correct answer. I guess there could be a way to cheat at this if you do some cyber-snooping but let's trust everyone will play fair!
If no one guesses correctly (or no one guesses at all!) I'll post another progress picture until someone gets it!
No correct guesses yet so I'll post a picture of it further along:
I will be sending a skein of sock yarn to the first person who guesses correctly or I'll do a random pull of a name if no one guesses correctly!
I'm also working on a cathedral window quilt block. Here it is in progress:
This is the layout I think I'll go with. I love the look of these but oh my, they eat a lot of fabric. The folding and pressing seemed to go on forever for this block. I've seen them become really cute pillows so that my be this one's destiny as well!
It's a duck!
Kid Starfish is in a major "duck phase" and requested that I knit a male mallard. Sure enough, a quick Ravelry search turned up a pattern called Round Duck. No one guessed a duck although several people on here and Twitter guessed Yoda. I had Mr. Starfish pick someone randomly and Dee won! Send me your address and I'll send a little goodie your way this week!
Sorry it took a few days to get this up. We spent a long weekend at the beach house. I can't be expected to blog with stuff like this to look at:
This is the view off our upper deck. I was playing with Hipstamatic on my iPod:
I am lucky.
